What is it?
A fast moving, self-referred sport played with a flying disc (frisbee). Imagine a cross between netball and American football (without the contact!) and you get somewhere close.
Why is it good for me?
Ultimate is great for your cardio, leg strength and agility as it involves lots of sprints and changing direction. You will also learn a new skill (throwing) and develop better hand-eye co-ordination.
How much does it cost?
Not much initially, if you find a team that plays under floodlights in winter then those sessions normally cost around £5 but when the daylight is good sessions are often free. If you really get into the sport, you can end up travelling the world!
What equipment do I need?
You need a pair of studded boots for outdoors (trainers for indoors) and whatev-er sports kit you already own to start with, Ultimate players normally wear baggy shorts and a t shirt, it’s definitely not a fashion show! Discs cost around £10-12.
