Studio You partners with Bodyform

24th July 2023

The collaboration takes the form of a new advert, as well as period education resources that will be made available to teachers using the Studio You platform.

With seven in 10 young girls saying they avoid being active when on their period*, Studio You has partnered with Bodyform to change that stat and say ‘no blood should hold us back’.

Studio You was created to help teenage girls overcome the barriers that stop them enjoying P.E and has joined forces with leading period care brand Bodyform to create a first ever partner hub on the platform.

It will share educational materials and videos for use in schools, free of charge across the England, and our head of campaign activation Claire Edwards is excited by the partnership.

“Our mission is to get more girls moving by removing as many barriers to exercise as we can,” she said.

“Too often we hear how periods hold girls back from taking part in physical activity but this shouldn’t be the case.

“We just need to give them the right education, encouragement, and coping strategies.

“The partnership with Bodyform aims to help more girls gain access to honest and open information around periods, so they better understand their bodies, free from period stigma and feel empowered to keep moving.”

In developing Studio You we reviewed countless pieces of research analysing reasons girls might avoid PE and found periods to consistently be among the top barriers to taking part in more physical activity in school.

We know it can be a difficult barrier to overcome when dealing with teen girls who may not yet feel fully comfortable with their changing bodies, but we know that supporting teachers to arm themselves with the facts and adopt an inclusive approach is the best way to start.

The partnership has launched with a new television ad using the tag line ‘no blood should hold us back’ and will be followed with the educational materials coming to Studio You when schools return in September.

The resources are designed the help teachers feel confident in breaking the traditional PE mould, move it in a new direction, make lessons comfortable for every student and inspire all girls to take part so that everyone can enjoy getting active.
