I have always wanted to exercise but found it hard to get motivated on my own and make the time. Being a parent carer to three children with additional needs, as well as working freelance, means I don't get much time to myself.
I have never been very sporty but in 2019 I signed up for the Simplyhealth Great East Run Outreach Programme, an initiative in Suffolk which coached 40 unfit people to be able to run a half marathon. With support and encouragement I completed the Great East Run.
I don't run as much any more but that experience has stayed with me and showed me I can do anything I set my mind to. And that just because I don't fit the typical mould of how I think a sporty person should look, doesn't mean I can't enjoy sports.
I have inspired a lot of my friends through my photos and social media to try my paddleboarding and swimming and take it up themselves.

I am lucky to have a flexible schedule so I can swim and SUP when I want to and then work in the evenings. This definitely helps but I also prioritise my exercise.
It is crucial for my wellbeing, if I am having a bad day a dip in cold water or a cruise on the paddleboard makes me feel a million times better so I schedule it in in the same way I would a haircut. I am lucky to have a supportive husband who looks after the children so I can get away.

I love paddleboarding and swimming because it is me time, no one can reach me and I can just drift away and be calm and serene. The coldness of the water makes me forget my problems and is a literal reset.
Chatting afterwards with friends on the shoreline with a cuppa is also laughter therapy. Being outside always makes me feel better. I love looking at the changing sky.
